"Set Me as a Seal Upon Your Heart": Make Your Own Ancient Seal

What if your signature could survive 2,000 years?

Long before signatures, people sealed their words — and their identity — into clay. In this hands-on family workshop we’ll look at how ancient seals worked, what they tell us about daily life thousands of years ago, and how ancient Hebrew script looked completely different from the letters we use today. Then everyone gets clay, tools, and a chance to carve their own personal seal — a real keepsake you take home, not just a craft.

No experience necessary. Ages 7+ (younger kids welcome alongside a parent or older sibling). Come curious — and get a taste of what a full year of ancient history with The Museum Guy looks like.

What to have ready:

• FIMO oven-bake clay (FIMO Soft is easiest for kids) — one light color is enough.

• A surface that can get messy — table with a plastic sheet
• Paper and something to write with, for sketching the design first
• A toothpick or small sculpting tool for carving (a hobby knife helps adults with fine detail)
• Access to a home oven — we’ll bake the seal at the end (a few minutes, low heat)

Optional: I’ll send an ancient Hebrew alphabet chart to everyone registered, and display it on screen too.
